Fujita

Living… in the Magic-User realm. Fujita lives in the relative comfort and stability of the Magic-User realm, even if his low rank doesn’t afford him the most social credit or money. Although it is objectively better than toughing it out in the Hole, life as a low-ranking sorcerer in the Magic-User realm can be quite challenging. 

Profession… sorcerer. After a tragic visit to the Hole, Fujita gets taken in by En, suddenly belonging to one of the most powerful sorcerer “families” in the Magic-User realm. Still, his magic prowess isn’t the best, meaning he’s often left to the sidelines when it comes to missions. When he encounters the dazed and severely injured sorcerer Ebisu, Fujita makes her care and recovery his responsibility, often bringing Ebisu around everywhere he goes. He has also been tasked with finding the sorcerer that cast their magic on Caiman, as En suspects that they are no ordinary magic user.

Interests… getting his revenge on Caiman for killing his Partner, Matsumura, when they were in Hole. Despite Caiman’s immunity to magic and Fujita’s lacking magical ability, Fujita is still determined to get his revenge. But he is quickly stopped by En, who informs him that his cleaners will go after the lizard-headed man instead and that he wants Fujita to locate the magic user who cast the spell on Caiman that gave him a lizard’s head. Still, Fujita never lets go of Matsumura’s passing and his desire for revenge, often attempting to strike out with Ebisu to track down Caiman and Nikaido to kill them for Matusumura’s death. 

Relationship Status… pitifully alone. While sorcerers are supposed to couple with a Partner, after the death of Matsumura, Fujita struggles to find someone to fill the hole left in his life. Though he looks up to the other capable sorcerers of the En family, he is looked down upon for his weak magical abilities and the fact that his old Partner was murdered. Fujita can find company and purpose in Ebisu, who for the most part is dazed and confused and unable to reject his company. Fujita is holding out hope that one day he’ll get his revenge on Caiman, find the sorcerer who turned Caiman into a lizard-headed man and find a new Partner. 

Challenges… struggling to be recognized by anyone in the Magic-User realm due to his lack of ability. Living in a society whose hierarchy is largely based on one’s magical talents, Fujita’s skills leave a lot to be desired. Though he has access to higher society through his association with En, members of said higher society often look him over. Despite his burning desire to hunt down Caiman, the sorcerers around him simply put him down and tell him that he will never be able to do so. 

Personality… insecure, hardworking, and hopeful. Already aware that his magical abilities aren’t the greatest, the death of Matsumura hangs heavily on him, feeling very guilty for their passing. If he was more capable, Matsumura would have been avenged already, if not still alive. Still, he finds hope and purpose in caring for Ebisu, finding her a healer, and being her chaperone as she recovers from a grievous injury. He also looks up to the other sorcerers in En’s family, using his admiration as motivation to prove himself in their eyes.
