Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Grew Up... gangly and picked on. Growing up in Cloudsdale, Fluttershy was never a particularly good flier, and the other colts and fillies often picked on her for her slowness.
However, it was at a flight camp that she discovered her true calling: caring for animals.

Living... on the edges of the Everfree Forest, a few steps away from Ponyville. While most of her friends live in Ponyville, Fluttershy prefers the peace and quiet beauty of her modest cottage.

Profession... caretaker of Ponyville's wild animals. Though shy around ponies, Fluttershy becomes instantly talkative once she sees animals. Upon meeting Twilight Sparkle's assistant, Spike, she squeals, “a baby dragon! Oh, I've never seen a baby dragon before!"

Interests... music, animals, fashion, and helping others. In addition to helping conduct a chorus of her bird friends, Fluttershy herself is a talented singer, though her shyness often prevents her from displaying talents.

Relationship Status... single. Fluttershy gets flustered around anypony other than her friends, so a pony wanting to date her would have to be a gentle soul indeed.

Challenge... becoming more self-confident and assertive. Although she represents the magical element of kindness, sometimes Fluttershy can be a little too kind, letting others walk over her without a word in response. Though she's always willing to stick up for her friends, Fluttershy now needs to learn how to stick up for herself.

Personality... meek, shy, and sweet. A timid pony, Fluttershy might not be too self-assured, but her friends know to rely on her in a pinch. More than any of her friends, Fluttershy is willing to see the best in everyone, a trait that has won over many enemies. When they're saddled with former troublemaker Discord, Fluttershy is the first to befriend him and is quick to defend him as, "a real sweetheart once you get to know him."
