Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Living… in the 1800s on a vast estate in Derbyshire, England. People say that there is not a finer county in England than where he lives.

Profession… land owner. He has been managing his family's estate since the death of his father five years ago. At the property in Derbyshire, the happiness of so many people is his responsibility.

Interests… anything but going to balls and other social engagements. Darcy doesn’t do small talk and would much rather read a good book than attend a party.

Relationship Status… single. He is not in a rush to get married as most of the women he meets are. After all, he is not sure if women really love him for himself or for his money. As he says, "There are so many ladies whose imagination jumps from admiration to love, from love to matrimony, in a moment."

Challenge… being attracted to Elizabeth Bennet, a charming but poor woman who would not meet any of his family's standards. But that might not matter anyway. Darcy put his foot in his mouth when he was with her, and Elizabeth may never forgive him for some things he said.

Personality… reserved, sophisticated, and proud. Darcy is a man of few words, but don’t mistake that for being cold. He takes some warming up to, but he does care for the people who are close to him.
