Living… in the south side of Chicago in Canaryville with her five siblings, Lip, Ian, Debbie, Carl, and Liam. Fiona tries to run as tight a ship as possible, hoping to make the Gallagher household as safe an environment for her siblings as possible.
Profession… various.Fiona works multiple jobs to scrape together enough money to take care of her siblings. Due to her mother’s absence and her father’s complete inability to take care of the family, Fiona was forced to drop out of high school in her junior year. Since then she’s worked a long string of low-wage jobs in order to put food on the table for her four siblings.
Interests... her siblings’ well-being. As the oldest sibling, most of the child-rearing is her responsibility. In a given week, she’ll deal with everything from Ian’s latest disappearance, to Lip’s latest love triangle, to Debbie’s trouble at school. Her only brief respites from the constant drama are going out dancing with her friend Veronica and the attention she receives from men.
Relationship Status... often a whirlwind. Fiona is beautiful, selfless, and more intelligent then she gives herself credit for. With a low sense of self-worth, she has a tendency to sleep around and date men who are bad for her. However, she is determined to learn from her mistakes, and refuses to date anyone who could be bad for her family. In time, Fiona might be able to find a man who appreciates her – but until then her frantic romances can at least act as her only release from the constant pressure of supporting her siblings.
Challenge… dragging herself and her siblings out of poverty and a broken home. Fiona refuses to be a sob story, and is determined not to repeat her parents’ mistakes: “My mother is bipolar, and my father is an alcoholic and an addict. He takes what he pleases and he offers nothing. No money, no support. I've done what I could to help raise my siblings. I wish I could've done more. I'm not asking for your pity or your admiration. I just want to be able to give these kids everything that they deserve because they're great kids. And they deserve better.”
Personality… tough, determined, and resourceful. Fiona is a survivor. Whatever the challenge, Fiona will find a way to get it done. Due to the fact that Fiona had to assume responsibility for five other people at a young age, she is extremely self-reliant and in most respects mature for her age. She has a sense of morality and tries to set a good example for her siblings. Her habit of putting others first is admirable – but comes with a cost. As Fiona consistently sabotages her own happiness for her siblings, she puts herself under more and more pressure – increasing her chances of cracking and falling into the same vices that originally destroyed her family.
