Overview... the voice of caution amongst his co-workers Joy, Sadness, Disgust, and Anger. All five emotions work together to control a preteen girl named Riley, and Fear’s job is to warn them of potential dangers and to point out things that could go wrong. Like all of his co-workers, Fear cares deeply about Riley and wants her to live a happy and – more importantly – safe life.
Personality... an easily frightened ball of nerves. When things are going well, Fear can be friendly and good-natured. But at the first sign of trouble he immediately becomes anxious and paranoid. Though he’s too shy to put up much of a fight with his co-workers, Fear always advocates for the safest possible course of action.

Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it's no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions—Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness. The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley's mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley's main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.
