Erin Gruwell

Overview… the new kid in school. Well, the new teacher. Erin Gruwell has just come from her affluent hometown of Newport Beach to teach English at Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach. She arrives eager and excited only to realize she is completely out of her element when she is assigned to a group of at-risk students. Erin has no idea, at least at first, how to raise attendance, alleviate racial tensions among her pupils, or secure enough funding. But she is determined to help her class succeed.

Personality... dedicated, passionate, and headstrong. Erin is much tougher than she looks. And she’ll need to be, if she wants to succeed – and help her students succeed – at Woodrow Wilson High School.
