Overview... commercially successful yet critically panned author of historical fiction. Eli always wanted to be part of the Tenenbaum family, a wealthy brood of child prodigies turned emotionally distraught adults. Eli also struggles with drug abuse, which his childhood friend Richie Tenenbaum is beginning to consider a serious problem.

Personality… spacey, jealous, and wild. Eli constantly wears a cowboy hat, and writes speculative historical fiction in the Western genre. He has always sent report cards to his mother figure Etheline Tenenbaum, and still sends clippings of his reviews to this day – even if the reviews specifically claim that he is “not a genius.”
