Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Grew Up... the last Dragonborn. The Dovahkiin is a child of prophecy, the last “Dragonborn,” which is the literal translation of the word Dovahkiin.  That means he (or she) is a powerful warrior destined for great things.

Living... in Skyrim. The Dovahkiin’s journey begins after escaping prison and entering Skyrim, a massive region in the northern part of the continent of Tamriel. Its residents find many ways to adapt to the cold climate, including using spells.

Profession... dragon hunter. The term Dovahkiin can also be translated into “Dragon Hunter,” which might be more appropriate. The Dovahkiin can not only slay dragons but also absorb their knowledge, learn their language, and speak their magical words of power like “Fus Ro Dah.”

Interests... exploration. Skyrim is vast and full of mysteries, so throughout their journey the Dovahkiin explores the region by observing its ecosystem, studying its lore, talking to its people, and taking on side quests.

Relationship Status... open to romance. While the mission is obviously the number one priority, the Dovahkiin is definitely open to romance or even marriage, especially while wearing the Amulet of Mara.

Challenge... defeating the god of destruction. The prophecy foretold that the Dovahkiin would arrive to defeat Alduin, the Nordic god of destruction. When Alduin does indeed return, it’s up to the Dovahkiin to prove whether or not the prophecy is true.

Personality... it depends. The prophecy is more concerned with the actions of the Dovahkiin rather than his (or her) personality. So there are many conflicting reports as to what kind of person they are. It’s certainly open to interpretation.
