Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Grew Up… in New Orleans, dripping with wealth. She owned slaves, and was just as, if not more, inhumane to them as expected. Delphine easily inflicts pain on others, shrugging off the horrifying methods of torture she uses to start anew on someone else. She was able to be loving to her own children, but she didn’t have any respect for families outside of her own.

Living… brought back to life by Fiona Goode, a witch with morals tarnished enough to match her own. She is now adjusting to life in the twenty-first century. The social progress made since her last bout of life horrifies her.

Profession… maid at an academy for witches.

Interests… evolving. In the past, her main hobby was hurting others. In the present, it includes fast food, cooking, and indulging her supposedly devout Christian beliefs.

Relationship Status… single.

Challenge… overcoming her racism, which she doesn’t see as a problem. But it results in another challenge, especially when it comes to fellow witch Marie Laveau. As she says, to Marie, “You think you and this rabble can frighten me? I am Madame Marie Delphine LaLaurie. And you're nothing. Your feeble attempt at poisoning me failed, nigger witch.”

Personality… sadistic and controlling, but only when she is in a position of power. As soon as she loses this and faces any threat, she crumbles and begs for mercy that she never granted others.
