Character Analysis
(Avoiding Spoilers)
Grew up… barely. Wooderson is known around town for his inability to grow out of his old party-boy ways. He’s a few years older than most of the high school seniors, though he acts like he’s still only eighteen.
Living… just outside Austin, Texas in the mid ‘70s. Wooderson sees himself as a bit of a rebel. “Let me tell you this, the older you get the more rules they’re gonna try to get you to follow. You just gotta keep livin’ man. L-I-V-I-N.”
Profession… working for the city. Wooderson has “been thinkin’ about getting’ back in school though, man. That’s where all the girls are, right?”
Interests… women, women, women. The suave David Wooderson likes ‘em fresh. “That’s what I love about these high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age.”
Relationship Status… single, though David is always looking to pick up a new chick. “Yeah, well, listen,” he tells a cute redhead, “You ought to ditch the two geeks you’re in the car with now and get in with us. But that’s all right, we’ll worry about that later.”
Challenge… avoiding life as a pathetic has-been. Wooderson is a local legend, but he’s becoming a bit too old to be running with the high school kids down at the pool emporium.
Personality… laid-back, suave and ready to party. David sees himself as the king of the town’s nightlife. He’s always ready to drink a beer, smoke a joint and enjoy himself. “All right, all right, all right,” is his catchphrase.
