Character Analysis
(Avoiding Spoilers)
Grew up… on Long Island in New York. One of his best friends grew up to be a prominent mobster, but Rossi avoided getting into organized crime, and instead joined the army. He served in Vietnam, but he doesn’t talk about it much.
Living… in a beautiful mansion. Rossi is quite wealthy, favoring Italian suede shoes and Italian Renaissance artwork. The mansion’s location isn’t specified, but it’s probably somewhere near Rossi’s workplace in Quantico, Virginia.
Profession… Supervisory Special Agent and Unit Senior Agent at the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit in Quantico. Rossi’s expertise is in hostage negotiation, and he claims that he “wrote the book” on negotiation tactics for the FBI. He had retired to write books and go on lecture tours, but he came back to the BAU when one of their cases had a personal connection for him.
Interests… writing, cooking, and video games. Rossi is a popular non-fiction author, writing mostly about serial killers that he’s encountered during his work with the BAU. He also is a good cook, and invites the team over for dinner. Even though he’s not very techinically savvy, he does play video games, including Rock Band, Gods of Combat, and Grand Theft Auto.
Relationship Status… divorced. A lot. Rossi has been married three times, and he’s never been able to make it work. He’s quite a player, though, and his thrice-divorced status doesn’t seem to hurt his game.
Challenge… solving the case. Rossi deals with some of the most dangerous criminals in the country, and his life and the life of his friends are often at risk. He also plays the role of team dad, making sure that the other agents work well together.
Personality… extroverted, intelligent, and organized. Rossi is a little less socially uptight than some of his coworkers, and is flirtatious and outgoing. He’s also a little anal-retentive, even going so far as to color-code his notes for cases – which he writes by hand. Quick-witted and well-spoken, Rossi’s successful writing career is another demonstration of his skill with words.
