Character Analysis

Living… in New York City. Dash knows the city well, and he is very attached to its character. He’s spending time now in his dad’s luxury apartment. Since his father is away with a new girlfriend, Dash is taking advantage of the empty space to brood about his life. He still hasn’t come to terms with his parents’ divorce.
Profession… student, in his senior year of high school. Dash is on his winter break, which will be the first Christmas without his family together. He hates the holidays, calling it "the most detestable time of the year." As he says, “The forced cheer, frenzied crowds. The carolers who’ve had so much eggnog they’ve forgotten the words. Of course, the couples are naive enough to mistake holiday spirit for being in love.”
Interests… reading. You’ll often find “notebook boy” reminiscing in the comforting rows of The Strand, his favorite bookstore, wearing his trusty, bobbled coat.
Relationship Status… recently single. Dash misses his ex-girlfriend, the stunning, social, and slightly controlling Sofia. Dash has sworn off romance for now. He says he’s giving himself the best Christmas present: solitude.
Challenge... getting out of his comfort zone. Dash has become quite detached and isolated, and he’s coming to realize he needs to shake up his life. When he finds a book of dares at The Strand, he is given the chance to start a new adventure—if he can push himself to be as outgoing as the dares demand.
Personality… smart, witty, and snarky. He would do anything for the people he cares about, but he sometimes needs to remember to think outside of himself.
