Profession… music producer. Dan used to be the head of the A and R department at Island Records for two years where he won two Grammys. But he sold his interests due to “emotional difficulties” before leaving to cofound the indie label, Distressed Records, with his friend and old classmate at Harvard, Saul Byron. Not having signed anyone in seven years, Dan has lost the confidence of the others involved in his record label. He spends his days drinking bourbon and smoking weed, while his nights are focused on trying to discover the next big talent.
Interests… music. In and out of the workplace, music consumes Dan’s life.
Relationship Status… separated from a music journalist, Miriam Hart. They have a daughter together named Violet who Dan only sees only once a month. Violet hasn’t had an easy time with her parents’ separation, and Dan is trying to be there for her more.
Challenge… redemption. Dan has hit rock bottom and wants to turn his life around. Thankfully, he has created an opportunity that might help with that: producing a demo for a promising young singer he discovered in a club. With no money in his bank account, he’s going to need to be creative and call in some favors.
Personality… passionate, stubborn, and spontaneous. When Dan becomes enthralled with a new project, he becomes electric, bringing people in with his charisma. He’s lost that spark he used to have, but he’s working on getting it back.
