Cordelia Chase

Grew up… in Sunnydale, California, where she was one of the most popular (and richest) girls in town. Cordelia was a cheerleader, the Queen Bee, and, believe it or not, a member of the Scooby Gang, despite being frenemies with Buffy.

Living… in Los Angeles, where she moved after graduation in the hope of becoming a world famous actress. She ends up forgoing her dreams of fame to help Angel save the world, quipping that she’s “good for exactly two things: international superstardom, or helping a vampire with a soul to rid the world of evil.”

Visiting… Pylea, a hell dimension, accidentally. But don’t worry, it wasn’t all bad – they declared her a princess. Great things like that just seem to happen to Cordelia.

Profession… investigator. She starts off as Angel Investigations’ receptionist (while going on acting auditions), but pretty soon she becomes a full-fledged member of the team – after all, it’s just her, Angel, and Doyle at the start. Eventually, she becomes Angel Investigations’ link to the Powers That Be, a much more demanding job than she had initially wanted.

Interests… fashion, dating, and combat. Though Cordelia grew out of the superficial thinking of her teenage years, she never loses her love of designer fashion – so much so that Angel is often able to buy her forgiveness with a new wardrobe. Also left over from her years at Sunnydale High is Cordelia’s ability to learn physical movements almost immediately, which she had needed as head cheerleader. This allows Cordelia to quickly learn to fend for herself so that she will no longer be dependent on the protection of Angel or the other team members.

Challenge… living in a world full of supernatural demons. She proves herself before she is ever given supernatural powers, but fighting demons was never her goal in life. It was her choice to join Buffy's Scooby Gang, and she owns it, but that doesn’t make it easy.

Personality… honest, confident, and compassionate. Cordelia is often said to be tactless due to her blunt honesty. She’s much smarter and competent than most give her credit for; people tend to write her off as dumb due to her beauty. But Cordelia knows her skills, and she won’t hesitate to speak up when she knows best.
