Grew up… in Pontiac, Michigan. Coraline and her incredibly inattentive parents have recently moved all the way across the country.
Living… in an apartment building called the Pink Palace in Ashland, Oregon. Coraline doesn’t much like her new home. The creepy Pink Palace used to be an old mansion.
Visiting… a place called the Other World. While exploring the Pink Palace, Coraline discovered a secret little door that leads to a parallel universe – one that appears to be much better than her bland reality.
Interests… exploring. Coraline loves a good adventure, and she’s always wanted to go explore with her parents who, unlike her, happen to hate the outdoors. In the Other World, though, Coraline’s “Other Parents” pay very close attention to her.
Relationship Status... single. Coraline is still just 11, so dating isn’t yet a priority.
Challenge… escaping the Other World. Despite warnings from her neighbors, Coraline ends up spending most of her time in the Other World. It is only when she is presented with the prospect of staying in the Other World forever that she begins to see how twisted it truly is.
Personality… brave, strong-willed, and adventurous. Coraline has a thirst for life. She hates staying inside and longs to explore the world. In the Other World, however, those generally positive traits might get her into trouble well over her head.

When Coraline moves to an old house, she feels bored and neglected by her parents. She finds a hidden door with a bricked up passage. During the night, she crosses the passage and finds a parallel world where everybody has buttons instead of eyes, with caring parents and all her dreams coming true. When the Other Mother invites Coraline to stay in her world forever, the girl refuses and finds that the alternate reality where she is trapped is only a trick to lure her.

When a young girl ventures through a hidden door, she finds another life with shocking similarities to her own. Coraline has moved to a new house with her parents and she is fascinated by the fact that their 'house' is in fact only half a house. Divided into flats years before, there is a brick wall behind a door where once there was a corridor. One day it is a corridor again and the intrepid Coraline wanders down it. And so a nightmare-ish mystery begins that takes Coraline into the arms of counterfeit parents and a life that isn't quite right. Can Coraline get out? Can she find her real parents? Will life ever be the same again?
