Chuck Noland

Living... with a volleyball he found on a deserted island after a plane crash. Chuck was so desperate for a companion that he drew a face on the ball and named it Wilson. He hasn't seen another human in years. The island is inhabited only by rocks and jungle. There's no way to get lost there. Everywhere is "lost" there.

Profession... executive for Federal Express. As a guy who was obsessed with time, he was great at meeting the deadlines required for his job. But on one of his business trips, his flight over the Pacific went down in a bad storm. Now he’s alone on a deserted island, where there is no time.

Interests... fishing. He's learned how to fish quite well with a spear, wading in the shallows at low tide. He also loves to eat coconuts, but he can't take much more of them. Did you know coconut milk is a natural laxative?

Relationship Status... on hold. Before he got shipwrecked, Kelly and he were on their way. He even got an engagement ring and was waiting for New Year's Eve to give it to her. Part of him hopes she's been waiting for him, and yet he also hopes she has moved on and is happy. It's been years since they've seen each other.

Challenge... dealing with the feeling that he is never going to get off the island. He got so depressed about being stranded that he tried to kill himself, but he couldn't even do that. So he has a new mindset. As he says, "I knew, somehow, that I had to stay alive. Somehow. I had to keep breathing. Even though there was no reason to hope. And all my logic said that I would never see this place again. So that's what I am doing. I am staying alive. I keep breathing."

Personality... strong, orderly, and, currently, depressed. Chuck was quite normal before the crash. Now, due to the strain of loneliness and survival, he struggles with despair. But he has a strong enough will to continue trying to make it off the island, no matter how long it’s been.
