Overview… a man with an interesting work-life balance. A self-described “homebody,” Chris lives a quiet life full of book-reading and movie-watching while at home. But at work, he lives a fast-paced, minute-to-minute existence. He’s a professional hostage negotiator for the Chicago Police Department, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a sense of humor: “You know I once talked a man out of blowing up the Sears Tower, but I cannot talk my wife out of the bedroom or my kid off the phone.”
Personality… prideful, assertive, and controlling. At least, that’s his work persona. Chris Sabian is one of the best negotiators in Chicagoland, and he likes to boast of his five-year zero-casualty rate. Yet like any good negotiator, he keeps his cards close to his chest. That will be important when the next hostage-taker he deals with, Danny Roman, is also a CPD hostage negotiator.

The police try to arrest expert hostage negotiator Danny Roman, who insists he's being framed for his partner's murder in what he believes is an elaborate conspiracy. Thinking there's evidence in the Internal Affairs offices that might clear him, he takes everyone in the office hostage and demands that another well-known negotiator be brought in to handle the situation and secretly investigate the conspiracy.
