Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Living… in New York City, in an apartment with his roommate Duncan. They often joke with each other and have similar senses of humor.

Profession… personal assistant to Rick Otis, who is a successful venture capitalist. As his assistant, Charlie is expected to work around the clock and know everything. Rick is not an easy boss. He often takes his anger out on Charlie and blames him for his problems. The only reason Charlie tolerates his job is that he wants to be promoted.

Relationship Status… in a relationship with a 23-year-old model named Suze. Due to the long and tedious nature of Charlie’s job, he rarely sees Suze and often misses opportunities to see her due to his boss’s sudden demands at irregular hours. Suze is getting impatient, and her eyes are starting to wander.

Challenge… finding a better work-life balance. It sounds crazy, but another assistant Harper who works in the same building suggested a plan of how they can both achieve that: setting up their workaholic bosses with each other. If their bosses hit it off and start seeing each other, they wouldn’t be in the office as much. It’s a good theory, but the execution requires a lot of things to line up.

Personality… hardworking, funny, and nice. Charlie works hard for what he wants. But he too often lets both his boss and his materialistic girlfriend take advantage of his kindness. If only he can find someone to appreciate him for who he is.
