Cassie Ainsworth

Living… with her preoccupied parents and baby brother. Cassie’s parents have a lot of love to give. Unfortunately, they generally choose to focus that love on each other, and neglect their son and daughter. This leaves Cassie to care for her younger brother. She changes his diapers, feeds him milk, and puts him to bed – all the while her parents are making love and painting each other in the nude.

Profession… student. Cassie attends Roundview College with her friends. Her attendance record is fairly poor, as her eating disorder frequently lands her in the clinic.  Cassie doesn’t seem too concerned about her condition: “Oh, it’s cool. I wear a white dress and I can eat yogurt, cup-a-soup, and hazelnuts now.”

Interests… looking at food. Cassie likes surrounding herself with things to eat. She has a drawer at home, stacked to the brim with snacks, and she loves exploring other people’s kitchens. Yet, she never consumes a morsel of food, no matter how tempting or delicious it looks.

Relationship Status… single. Cassie has a huge crush on Sid Jenkins. She first met him at Abagail Stock’s party, where she was supposed to take his virginity. That didn’t happen, as Cassie overdosed on pills and had to be taken to the hospital, but she’s held a candle for him ever since. Unfortunately, Sid is still hung up on Michelle, his best friend’s girlfriend, so Cassie is pretty much an afterthought in his mind.

Challenge… coping with anorexia. Cassie has struggled with eating for a while. Her parents have sent her to a treatment center multiple times, but she has always managed to get out of her program by tricking the coordinators. Cassie doesn’t think that her disorder is anybody else’s concern but her own. Lately, however, she has been getting texts from an anonymous number and all of them are telling her to “EAT!”

Personality... quirky, spacy, and fragile. Cassie can be found wandering around Bristol with a dreamy expression on her face and her head in the clouds. Don’t let her detached exterior fool you though. Cassie is extremely sensitive. The slightest snub could trigger a spell of depression.
