Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Grew Up… with a father she loved. After his death, her world was turned upside down.

Profession… high school student. Casey’s reclusive nature has made it difficult to form relationships with anyone at school. She just wants to be alone, away from everyone, which is why she intentionally gets in trouble to be isolated in detention. Casey isn’t usually invited to any parties that her classmates have, but Claire thought it would be weird to exclude only her. Casey decides to go to the party at the mall, and she got a ride home from Casey and Marcia. They thought the driver was Casey’s dad, but they were too busy on their phones to realize it was someone else. After being sedated, they awoke in a stranger’s basement.

Interests… hunting. She used to like to hunt bucks with her father and uncle, but she doesn’t do much of anything these days.

Relationship Status… in a traumatic and complicated relationship with different men. It’s not a romantic relationship; she is being held captive by a deranged and abusive person who has many split personalities.

Challenge… escaping. Casey is not friends with the other two girls, but they must work together if they are to make it home alive. Casey also wants to get a better understanding of her captor’s multiple personalities so she can try to align with one of them. As she says: “The only way we’re going to get out of here is if one of them decides to let us out.”

Personality… complicated. When Casey was younger and still had her father around, she was bright, energetic, and playful. After her father passed, Casey grew to become withdrawn, aggressive, and depressed. While being held captive, Casey is coming out of her shell and gaining inner strength she never knew was in her.
