Character Analysis
(Avoiding Spoilers)
Grew Up... without any memories of her childhood. She woke up from an accident six years ago and doesn't remember anything before that. She’s been told that her name is Vers and she’s a member of the Kree alien race. Her only clues beyond that are recurring nightmares about a battle and a mysterious woman.
Living... on Hala, the capital planet of the Kree Empire.
Visiting... Planet C-53, also known as Earth. Though Carol initially assumes it’s just another random backwoods planet, things start to get a whole lot more complicated when she accidentally crash lands there in 1995, and starts recovering old memories that hint she once lived a life on Earth as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force.
Profession... Starforce soldier. Working under the command of her leader and mentor Yon-Rogg, Carol is part of an elite team of Kree warriors who carry out missions across the galaxy. Their work is mostly centered on defeating the Skrull, a race of devious shape-shifting aliens locked in a bitter war against the Kree.
Interests... sparring with Yon-Rogg, cracking jokes, and begrudgingly befriending a cat named Goose.
Relationship Status... single. Carol’s most important relationships are with her friends and allies, including her new ones on Earth. She strikes up an alliance with S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Nick Fury and rediscovers a connection to a pilot named Maria Rambeau, who claims she and Carol used to be best friends.
Challenge... learning to harness her powers. Beyond the extensive combat training of any Starforce soldier, Carol has been given an implant that allows her to shoot powerful photon blasts from her glowing fists. Yon-Rogg is adamant that Carol must control her emotions in order to use her powers effectively, but Carol has never felt quite right about having to suppress a part of who she is. Maybe there’s another way instead…
Personality... confident, funny, and fearless. Carol may not have her memories, but she knows who she is. She has the heart of a valiant hero, and a deep commitment to helping people. Rather than blindly listen to those in power, Carol follows her own moral compass. She can be reckless, rebellious, and stubborn, and she doesn’t take life too seriously. Calm under pressure and a little cocky in her abilities, she’s often the first to crack a joke in the heat of battle. She lives by the motto, “Higher, further, faster.”
