Caiman

Living… in a city so dismal, it is known only as “Hole”. It can seem like a grim place to live, with rampant crime and nothing but decrepit apartment buildings that reach up into the sky. What’s worse, Hole has become a playground for sorcerers to train their magic in, with little regard for the effects said magic experimentation has on the locals. If the sorcerers’ testing doesn’t outright kill the unfortunate test subjects of Hole, the citizens are often left with permanent alterations to their bodies—a living reminder to those around them that seemingly no one is safe from the exploits of the sorcerers. 

Profession… hospital worker. Although most of his time is spent hunting sorcerers that enter Hole with his friend, Nikaido, it’s not exactly a paying gig. To compensate for that, Caiman has started a job with Vaux, a man who runs a run-down hospital called the Hole Central Hospital Magic Victim Ward to help with the victims of sorcerer experimentation. But if the sorcerer remains alive, there’s little that can be done to aid those who enter the hospital. Still, it’s a good place to search for clues about the sorcerer who turned Caiman’s head into that of a lizard. Even if he can’t get any personal leads, killing the sorcerers who used the citizens of Hole as practice will undo their afflictions, benefitting everyone in the long run.

Interests… spending time with his friend, Nikaido, at her restaurant called Hungry Bug. Though he’s rarely, if ever, a paying customer, Nikaido is nice enough to cook him his favorite food, gyoza. He’s also often at the Hole Central Hospital Magic Victim Ward with Vaux, but that’s often because he’s strapped for cash, more so than his love for the job.

Relationship Status… single. While Nikaido is his closest friend and sorcerer-hunting partner, it doesn’t appear to go much deeper than that. It’s hard to develop a deep relationship in the harsh reality of Hole. However, the few friends that Caiman does have are faithful and are more or less willing to help him track down the sorcerer that turned his head into a lizard’s head. 

Challenges… waking up with severe amnesia, remembering nothing about the life he had before he was assumedly transformed by a sorcerer. With no remnants of his old life, Caiman hopes that hunting and killing the sorcerer that transformed him will turn him back to normal and restore his memories. However, word soon spreads amongst the sorcerers of the Magician Killer in Hole, a lizard-headed man who is immune to magic, leading high-ranking sorcerers like En to send his “cleaners” after Caiman and Nikaido. 

Personality… loud, brazen, and desperate. Caiman is an impeding figure with his tall stature, his propensity to wear a gas mask and wield large knives, and his habit of biting the faces of the sorcerers that he hunts in Hole. He’s also known for being loud and direct, saying exactly what’s on his mind and being clear with his desires. However, under his intimidating look and habits, Caiman often feels very lost, often wondering about who he was before he was attacked by a sorcerer, what his life was like, and what he looked like.
