(Avoiding Spoilers)
Grew Up… as Robert Leroy Parker. He got his nickname “Butch” after working briefly as a butcher. The name stuck.
Living… the life of an outlaw. Robbing trains, running from posses—all in a day’s work for Butch Cassidy. He loves the notoriety and excitement, but when things start getting too hot, this outlaw starts to reconsider his standing as head of the “Hole in the Wall Gang.” Sticking around his old haunts could prove more dangerous than it’s worth.
Profession… robber. Butch Cassidy can’t think of anything he’d rather be doing. It doesn’t even seem to bother him too much if he has to start stealing all the way down in Bolivia. Robbing is robbing to Butch, and it’s the best rush out there. Better than sex.
Interests… bicycles, accuracy, and knife fights. He’ll never be as good a shot as his partner in crime, The Sundance Kid, but that sure doesn’t stop him from trying. If he can’t outdo Sundance with bullets, he’s just as quick to prove his prowess with dynamite. He never underestimates with dynamite; the more “bang” the better. Right before blowing up an entire train car, Butch smirks and says, “Well, that ought to do it.” Indeed.
Relationship Status… single. A handsome, rakish sort, Butch has always done well with the ladies. Though it’s clear that he has something of a soft spot for Etta, Sundance’s lover. The three of them have a complex and unique relationship, living life on the edge, loving each other more as mutual adrenaline-junkies than normal humans.
Challenge… escaping the price on his head. It isn’t long before an imposing posse starts chasing after Butch and Sundance. You can’t keep robbing Union Pacific without someone putting out a mean price for your head, dead or alive.
Personality… exuberant. He’s a natural-born leader. He attracts as many partners-in-crime as partners in bed. Women love him, men want to be him. So much so that his so-called friend Harvey Logan takes his place as leader of the Hole in the Wall Gang during Butch’s absence. But it doesn’t take more than a few dirty tricks for Butch to win a fight against Harvey and regain his position as top dog. As Flat Nose Curry says, “I was really rooting for you, Butch.”
