Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Living… in Jabba’s palace in the Northern Dune Sea of Tatooine. After overpowering Bib Fortuna, Boba Fett has taken his place on the throne of the Hutt who left him for dead.

Profession… ex-bounty hunter and current daimyo (crime lord) of Mos Espa and the surrounding areas.

Interests… ruling Jabba’s empire. After escaping the Sarlacc pit and spending time with the Tuskens, a nomadic desert people, Fett realizes violence may not always be the best answer, despite his impressive combat skills. He tells Fennec Shand, his closest friend and ally, that he intends to rule by respect rather than fear.

Challenge… being taken seriously as the new daimyo, conforming to others’ expectations, and maintaining his position of power. Fett is repeatedly insulted by those who are supposed to bring him tribute, and he and his associates are frequently attacked by rival powers. Shand asserts he would be more easily accepted if he were to follow the traditions of the Hutts, but Fett disagrees.

Personality… quiet, thoughtful, and world-weary. His time with the Tuskens has taken a toll on him, and he is tired of serving corrupt, thoughtless criminals. He has come to realize the importance of belonging, of having a family, blood or otherwise, telling Shand: “You can only get so far without a tribe.”
