Overview… a billionaire in the autumn of his years whose world has turned upside down. Bill Parish’s company is in the middle of an intense and controversial merger. Meanwhile, he is getting ready to celebrate his 65th birthday with a grand party at his country manor. Bill, who has been nagged by a disturbing feeling and mysterious voices, is visited by Death, who comes to him in the body of a handsome young man. The man has an odd request – he wants Bill to show him how to live.
Personality… wise and caring. Bill is a billionaire with a good heart. He cares deeply for his daughter, who is on the verge of marrying a man he knows is wrong for her. As Bill approaches his inevitable demise, he begins to see all of the beauty that life has to offer.

When the grim reaper comes to collect the soul of megamogul Bill Parrish, he arrives with a proposition: Host him for a "vacation" among the living in trade for a few more days of existence. Parrish agrees, and using the pseudonym Joe Black, Death begins taking part in Parrish's daily agenda and falls in love with the man's daughter. Yet when Black's holiday is over, so is Parrish's life.
