Overview... a devoutly religious small-town girl. Bess is dedicated to her community as much as she is dedicated to her new husband, Jan, who constantly leaves to work on an oil rig. Bess waits for him, and prays for his safe return every time he leaves her.
Personality… innocent to the extent that she comes off as childlike. Jan helps make her into a woman, and soon Bess must rise to a seemingly insurmountable challenge, for which she will need to call on the powers of God for assistance. Bess believes God speaks through her, and that she is in constant communion with His divine powers.
