Beatrix Kiddo

Living… in Los Angeles, where the Viper Squad has learned that she’s come out of a coma. Before that she was in that coma for four years, lying in a hospital while an orderly and his friends took turns doing whatever they wanted with her. She had to kill her way out of there. Fortunately, killing is what Beatrix does best.

Profession… an assassin, seeking revenge for what Bill did to her four years ago. Bill is the leader of the all-female Deadly Viper Assassin Squad. He trained as a student of the legendary Hattori Hanzo and kung fu master Pai Mei. He betrayed Beatrix after her departure from the squad by killing everyone at her wedding and leaving her for dead. (That’s why Beatrix is better known as “The Bride.”) Bill has apparently stopped killing, but that does not change her intentions of exacting revenge: “In all, I've killed 33 people to get to this point right now. I have only one more. The last one. The one I'm headed to right now. The only one left. And when I arrive at my destination... I'm gonna Kill Bill.”

Interests… giving mercy to Bill's minions in exchange for information on his whereabouts. Beatrix allows them to keep their wicked lives for one reason and one reason only. So they can tell him, in person, everything that has happened to them. She wants Bill to witness the extent of her mercy. If that basically means torturing her enemies and leaving them to suffer, so much the better.

Relationship Status… formerly engaged. Her engagement was what led her away from Bill. She’d fallen in love and wanted a normal family with her soon-to-be husband and baby daughter. Then on the day of the wedding Bill and the Deadly Vipers showed up and massacred everyone present – except The Bride wasn’t dead after all. She intends to make them pay for the oversight.

Challenge… killing Bill. Only the strictest discipline will allow her to finish her mission. As Hanzo said, "Kill whoever stands in thy way, even if that be Lord God, or Buddha himself." Beatrix must first go after O-Ren Ishii, another former member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad who is now the leader of the Tokyo Yakuza, or mafia. That will be challenge enough.

Personality… single-minded and deadly, yet still compassionate. All of the pain that Beatrix has endured has made her exterior as cold as ice. But as a mother, she shows there is more to her than just being a sword-yielding assassin; she has a nurturing side too. Beatrix has her vulnerabilities and has even been known to cry. Given what she has gone through, shedding a few tears is completely understandable.
