Character Analysis

Grew up... in the small coal-mining village of Corel. Barret lived happily with his wife, Myrna, until a reactor incident destroyed the town, killing Myrna in the process. Determined to get revenge on the company that destroyed his life, Barret replaced his missing arm with a prosthetic gun and formed the AVALANCHE resistance group.
Living... in the Sector 7 Slums underneath the capital city of Midgar. Barret hides out in the 7th Heaven bar, the secret base for his eco-terrorist group, AVALANCHE.
Profession... gunslinger and leader of AVALANCHE. Barret now spends his time plotting to take down the Shinra Electric Power Company’s Mako reactors, which are sucking the Lifestream out of the planet Gaia and killing it. It’s a good cause, but Barret finds himself constantly outnumbered and outgunned. It’s hard to make any real progress against the powerful Shinra Company – and time is running out.
Interests… getting in fights, protecting his adopted daughter, Marlene, and avenging his loved ones. Barret likes to get his hands dirty and prove himself on the battlefield. His philosophy on life is simple: “I don't got any answers. I wanna be with Marlene... But I gotta fight. 'Cause if I don't, the planet's gonna die... So I'm gonna keep fightin'!”
Relationship Status... widowed. Ever since the death of his wife, Barret has poured his emotional energy into raising Marlene, his adopted daughter whose parents were killed by the Shinra Company.
Challenge... stopping the Shinra Company from killing the planet and helping Cloud and his friends defeat the evil Sephiroth. That will be more than enough to keep him busy.
Personality... tough, crude, violent, and short-tempered. Barret is easily angered and insulted, a scary combination of traits since he’s known to get violent. He’s also known for swearing excessively when he’s worked up. Although he boasts a rugged, tough-guy attitude, he can be incredibly tender with Marlene, and is fiercely protective of his friends, family, and allies.
