Overview… an Indian man who makes a living for himself and his three children in colonial Chandrapore. Dr. Aziz holds his head up high, even when the English – some of whom he considers friends – speak down to him and his people. Life is often not easy under colonial rule, even for an educated man like Dr. Aziz.
Personality… intelligent and kind. Dr. Aziz, though he has undertaken a rational profession, is often bound to the strength of his emotions. Despite his good reputation, Dr. Aziz will forever have the cards stacked against him. That’s part of what it means to be a colonial subject.
