Character Analysis

Profession… Principal at Abbott Elementary. Ava maneuvered her way into the position by catching the superintendent with his mistress and blackmailing him. Very few of the staff members at Abbott have any faith in Ava to do her job well, but she always manages to get it done when it counts.
Interests… social media. Ava often goes viral on TikTok and strives to be up-to-date with trends. Other faculty at Abbott Elementary find it vapid, but Ava is surprisingly creative and manages to use her mastery of the online world to benefit the school.
Relationship Status… on the prowl. Ava is a huge flirt who is known to make her advances quite clear. She especially has her eye on substitute teacher Mr. Eddie. He was so good-looking that Ava thought one of her colleagues had hired her a stripper.
Challenge… being entirely underqualified for her job. Ava is not detail-oriented, which has caused problems for students including a second grader. But Ava always has a good excuse. As she says, "My bad, y’all. She was supposed to skip second grade, but they told me during Essence Fest. I missed a lot of paperwork during that month.” The superintendent is always on her back, trying to find a way to fire her. Somehow, she gets out of sticky situations by the skin of her teeth every time. To everyone’s surprise, she’s able to use her charm, social media knowledge, and charisma to solve her problems.
Personality… impulsive and unaware. Ava often makes decisions without considering how they will affect others. She tends to overreact and act spitefully which creates unnecessary drama in the workplace. But Ava always has a smile on her face and a delusional optimism that can be refreshing. Ava also proves that she is capable of being a leader and a considerate, nurturing person when she puts in the effort.
