Grew Up… in India. He studied under a yogi and had a scholarly education at the Calcutta Technical University, graduating with top honors. As if that wasn’t enough, he received a doctorate in the U.S. for computer science. This wizard even developed the first tic-tac-toe computer program. He only took his job at the Kwik-E-Mart to pay off his massive student loan debt.

Living… in an arranged marriage to Manjula. But after a period of bitterness over the arrangement she warmed up to him and now they are in love. So in love that they have eight children – octuplets! Apu already had enough on his hands with his corner store, sweeping up spoiled squishees and the like.

Profession… owner and operator of the Kwik-E-Mart convenience store, a favorite among the Springfield residents. It’s his very own business and he takes a great deal of pride in keeping it in tip-top shape. He spends most of his time in the Kwik-E-Mart and sometimes ends up neglecting his family life as a result.

Interests… Hinduism, especially the gods Shiva, Vishnu, and Ganesha. At his behest, his entire family is devout. Apu also enjoys chasing young Springfield troublemakers out of his store with a broom.

Relationship Status… married. He hits a number of ruts with Manjula, but they always end up back together in the end, stronger than ever. Apu loves his family and works constantly to provide for them.

Challenge… not getting robbed. Local criminal Snake seems to hold him up at gunpoint quite often. And though Apu is not one to fight fire with fire, he would like to develop a system for avoiding such robberies.

Personality… dedicated workaholic. If he’s not at the Kwik-E-Mart, greeting every customer with “Thank you, come again,” he doesn’t feel himself himself. In his own words, “I’m not much of a talker but I love to listen. I also love to design and build furniture and then to have a discussion about where it can be placed in a room.” You can imagine how well that went over with the ladies of Springfield before his married years.
