Overview... teenage nerd whose father doesn’t understand him – not because he plays Dungeons and Dragons, but because all his friends are white. Though, the Dungeons and Dragons games don’t help. His father Andre Sr. is concerned his children aren’t learning enough about their heritage and Andre Jr. is exhibit A. He plays field hockey instead of basketball and wants a Bar Mitzvah.
Personality... insecure, nervous, and awkward. He’s carried on the Andre Johnson name, but none of the swag. His father grew up on the hard streets of Compton and came out the other side with a whole lot of confidence. Andre Jr. had a much gentler upbringing and it shows. In fact, he’s head of his school’s Young Republicans. It drives his dad crazy. Andre Sr. has a lot of work to do.

Dre Johnson grew up in Compton, a tough part of Los Angeles. When he achieved success, he moved a few miles away to a nicer—but much whiter—part of town. He's trying to teach his kids to take pride in their heritage in a mostly-white environment. But his son cares more about field hockey than basketball, and his daughter's new boyfriend is not only white—he's French too!
