Overview… a hardworking aspiring journalist working for the magazine Composure. Andie wants to write hard-hitting expose pieces about “things that matter,” rather than work at the insipid magazine. She says that she didn’t “Bust her butt in grad school to be Andie Anderson, How-To Girl, and write articles like ‘How to use the best pick up lines…’ ” She has just been assigned to write an article on how to lose a guy in ten days. Using every cliché that usually drives men away, Andie is determined to write a strong article. She meets her match with Benjamin Barry, who was just challenged to have a girl fall in love with him. As both strive to accomplish their goal, they unexpectedly realize that something real could actually develop between them.
Personality… intelligent, headstrong, and independent. When Andie begins writing an article on “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days,” she finds it challenging to play the role of the clingy, desperate girlfriend– especially when she starts to fall for her subject, the equally persistent Benjamin Barry.

Her editor, Lana, loves it, and Andie goes off to find a man she can use for the experiment. Enter executive Ben Berry, who is so confident in his romantic prowess that he thinks he can make any woman fall in love with him in 10 days. When Andie and Ben meet, their plans backfire.
