(Avoiding Spoilers)
Living… for Selina Meyer’s next breath, in Washington D.C. Amy has effectively ceded her existence to the Vice President. To say she takes her work home with her is an understatement.
Profession… chief of staff to Vice President Selina Meyer. Amy describes her job as the Vice President’s “trouble-shooter, problem-solver, issue-mediator, doubt-remover, conscience-examiner, thought-thinker and all-round everything-doer." Without Amy, the very little that gets done would never get done.
Interests… politics. Amy only wishes she could have outside interests, much less a full night’s sleep. She never turns off from 24-hour-news-cycle mode. Her boyfriend complains about her keeping C-SPAN on even during sex – at full volume!
Relationship Status… taken. It’s a wonder that she has enough time to be in a relationship with aide Ed Webster. Ed wishes she was better at leaving her job at the office. She’s also had brief flings with co-workers Dan and Jonah – comparing the latter to a mild case of food poisoning.
Challenge… keeping whatever shred of sanity she has left. Each day brings a new PR crisis and it’s Amy’s job to get the Vice President’s image in the clear. Amy gives so much to her job that she barely has any time for herself. Even Selina’s possible pregnancy affects Amy personally, when she has to pretend to be pregnant herself in order to prevent the potential media firestorm.
Personality… frustrated. She’s got too much to do to put up with anyone’s bull. She’s disillusioned with the political world, yet she can’t get enough of it. The reason for this eludes her: “You know, democracy is fantastic, but it is also [freaking] dull.” That’s the spirit!
