Amanda Whurlitzer

Overview… 11-year old in sunny Los Angeles. Amanda spends the summer months sitting on a shady street corner selling maps to stars’ homes to “ignorant hicks” – i.e. tourists. It is there where Morris Buttermaker, alcoholic manager of the local little league’s hapless Bears and former boyfriend of her mom, tracks her down. Amanda’s got a mean fastball and a knee-buckling curve. She’s a heckuva pitcher, and the Bears need her help. But Amanda is tired of tomboy pastimes and is none too happy to see Buttermaker. He’s got his work cut out for him to convince her to pitch for his team.

Personality… confrontational, proud, and fiery. Amanda is quick to dole out verbal thrashings for the slightest of transgressions. Anyone who looks at her the wrong way, really. One of her favorite things to do is argue. She is very mature for her age, which means she has already developed a natural feel for cussing. Don’t let the imported jeans fool you – Amanda is tough as nails.
