Alvin Straight

Overview... a man taking an unusual trip. A resident of Laurens, Iowa, Alvin plans to drive his lawn mower 240 miles to Wisconsin to see his brother Lyle before he passes. Hey, what else is he supposed to do? Alvin’s eyes are bad, he can't get a license anymore. You can't take any bus straight to Mt. Zion. There was no other option but the lawn mower. Alvin has to make peace with his brother before it’s too late.

Personality... wise, practical, and unpretentious.  Alvin’s lived on this earth for 73 years. He’s a humble man, but his life is so full that from where he sits now he’d be damned if he knew how he did it all. He grew up on a farm, went to war, and had seven children. He’s lived in every part of this beautiful country and loved the same woman for over 40 years. Now this is just another thing he has left to do, and he’s going to do it no matter what.
