Character Analysis

Grew Up… in Kansas City. Most of the people in her family were police officers. Her father was captain of the Kansas City Police Department and her brother is a homicide detective. Blake went to Berkeley University and excelled as a double major. She was recruited by the FBI when she was only 24, and made a name for herself working on high profile cases such as the Unabomber case. Her brother, Danny, was killed as a police officer in the line of duty. 

Living… in the Washington D.C. area. 

Profession… Supervisory Special Agent in the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI. Blake worked at the Bureau for a long time, and was a reputable agent before joining the BAU. She is also a professor at Georgetown University, where she teaches foreign linguistics, and is the author of a book, “The Route of Linguistics,” which she uses in her classes.  

Interests… crossword puzzles – which her mother taught her to do – and music. She also understands Portuguese and sign language. 

Relationship Status… married. Her husband James Blake is a member of Doctors Without Borders, and is away, so they communicate over Skype. 

Challenge… to redeem herself. In 2001, Blake worked on the Amerithrax case, and BAU section chief Erin Strauss allowed her to take the blame when a linguistics error led to a false arrest. Additionally, Blake strives to catch the criminals the BAU investigates alongside the other profilers in the unit. 

Personality… intelligent, private, and rebellious. Blake is extremely smart, and extremely well organized. But she is a bit more rebellious than other members of the BAU, which can be both good and bad. She has strong opinions and is not afraid to express them. Blake also likes to keep her personal life relatively private, and doesn’t talk with her co-workers about her family life.
