Character Analysis

(Avoiding Spoilers)

Living… in Las Vegas. Ace is in the gambling business, and he’s done pretty well—well enough to buy himself an expensive house right in back of a country club golf course. His wife and daughter, Ginger and Amy, live there as well.

Profession… racketeer. Ace has a solid reputation as a gaming handicapper, and he now works for the mob, skimming profits off the top of the Tangier Casino’s earnings.

Interests… spending time with Ginger and Amy. When he can, at least. This job takes up a lot of time, and it’s not too safe.

Relationship Status… troubled. Ace fell in love with Ginger when she was hustling at the casino. He still loves her deeply, and he loves their daughter. But Ginger doesn’t seem as committed. She’s still involved with her former boyfriend, and seems more interested in spending Ace’s money than going on dates. But as Ace puts it, “When you love someone, you've gotta trust them. There's no other way. You've got to give them the key to everything that's yours. Otherwise, what's the point? And for a while, I believed, that's the kind of love I had.”

Challenge… not losing his head. Literally – in the mob business, there’s a good chance that either the police or the underworld is going to do you in. Ace might be the best in the business, but that doesn’t mean he’s safe. Plus, his best friend and partner, Nicky, has been going off the rails. Now Ace has to find a way to corral Nicky, keep Ginger’s heart, protect Amy, and stay alive.

Personality… independent, talented, and connected.  Ace is a hard-worker, and he knows that his method works, so he’s not afraid to ditch anyone who isn’t willing to play by his rules. But he has a bit of a blind spot when it comes to Nicky and Ginger, who are dragging him down.
