Character Analysis

Grew up… with her parents and two younger sisters, Andromeda and Narcissa. Her family is pure-blooded and extremely proud of it, so Bellatrix learned from a young age to be prejudiced against non-magical people. For instance, when her sister Andromeda married a Muggle man named Ted, she was outcast from the Black family, and Bellatrix hasn’t spoken to her since.
Living… in the wizard prison, Azkaban, since 1981. After torturing Frank and Alice Longbottom into insanity, Bellatrix was caught and sentenced to life in Azkaban for the use of an Unforgivable Curse. However, now that Voldemort has returned to power and organized a mass breakout, Bellatrix and other formerly imprisoned followers of the Dark Lord have escaped from Azkaban in order to join his ranks once more.
Profession… Death Eater. After she graduated from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Bellatrix joined Voldemort’s ranks and has been one of his most fanatically loyal supporters ever since.
Interests… killing, maiming, and torturing. Bellatrix is the definition of evil and only seems to find joy in making others miserable. She relishes bloodshed and would probably even kill her own family members if she felt they were on the “wrong” side.
Relationship Status… married to Rodolphus Lestrange. Of course, Bellatrix married a wizard from another Pureblood family. Rodolphus is a Death Eater as well, and also tortured the Longbottoms; Azkaban must have been quite the romantic honeymoon destination for the couple.
Challenge… serving Lord Voldemort to the best of her ability. Even after his downfall, Bellatrix proclaimed her devotion to the Dark Lord, and proudly went to Azkaban with the intent to someday find Voldemort and restore him to power. She loathes those cowardly Death Eaters who claimed they had been bewitched into following Voldemort and committing crimes, just to preserve their own reputations after Voldemort disappeared.
Personality… sadistic, violent, and ruthless. Bellatrix is twisted and seemingly soulless. Her only ambition is helping Lord Voldemort regain power, and she will do whatever it takes to make sure no one (least of all that little brat Harry Potter) stands in his way. She is intelligent and loyal, but uses these typically “good” qualities in the worst possible way.
