Overview… a prince who is paying a high price for being too vain. Formerly handsome, he was transformed into a monster by an enchantress as punishment for his arrogance and selfishness. In order to break her curse and return to his previous form, the Beast must learn to love and earn love by the age of 21. His chance arrives when the beautiful and worldly Belle agrees to become his prisoner in order to save her father. But first, the Beast must overcome his savage tendencies to gain her respect and affections.
Personality… selfish, gruff and, well, beastly. The years of isolation and despair have done nothing to improve the Beast’s already substantial temper, which is bad news for anybody hoping to break the curse. Fortunately, Belle’s spirit and sweet nature might just assuage his bestial inclinations. But can she do it in time?

Beauty and the Beast is the adaptation of a story by Madame de Villeneuve. Published anonymously in 1740 as La Jeune Américaine et les contes marins, it paints a portrait of Belle, a joyful and touching young girl who falls in love with the Beast, a cursed creature in search of love and redemption. In 1760, a condensed children’s version was published. It was from this version that Jean Cocteau and then Walt Disney drew their famous adaptations. Overshadowed, the original version by Madame de Villeneuve has never been adapted for the screen... until now!
